The Brooklands Group, one of the largest exhibition organisers in the UK, approached us for help with their online strategy to generate ticket sales and sell exhibitor space at A Place in the Sun Live!, an exhibition based on the Channel 4 TV series A Place in the Sun.

Our initial approach was to repurpose existing content that the Brooklands Group owned and implement this across a new search-engine-friendly website that we developed. Within three months the new content, structure and optimisation had helped achieve the website the No 1 spot on Google, Yahoo and MSN for a broad range of key search terms.

We also managed the creation and distribution of email campaigns to a database of approximately 30,000 subscribers alongside fostering relationships with partners such as Prime Location, distributing campaigns to 50,000+ of their own subscribers. The e-mail campaigns carried tips on buying overseas property, incentives to promote early purchase and links to a promotional video about the exhibition (the video was included for the second exhibition onwards).

Further, we identified over 7,000 key terms, and variations, which we bid upon through 'pay-per-click' listings. We were able to generate and track 13,000 targeted leads to the website leading to over £20,000 worth of ticket sales in the first campaign alone.

The first A Place In the Sun Live! was an enormous success with more than 21,000 visitors over the exhibition weekend. The Brooklands Group subsequently won “Best launch exhibition” at the Event awards 2005.
